In virtually every company, there are significant savings to be made: from low-cost investments in improving energy efficiency, better input utilization, waste minimization and reuse and in streamlining logistics and supply-chain management. Yet many of these cost-saving opportunities remain unexploited for a variety of reasons that may involve lack of awareness and appreciation of potential savings, inertia, and difficulty in measuring the return on these investments.
As part of the learning experience, an additional 4-hour consultation will be scheduled for each participating company, allowing customized practice and guidance on the implementation of green investments.
The programme is recognized by the HRDA - Human Resource Development Authority in Cyprus as Vital Importance, thus the participation fee is fully subsidized, allowing up to three participants per business entity to attend without any cost.

Dr. Theodore Panayotou
Dr. Panayotou has been the Director of CIIM since 2000. In the past, he served for seven years as senior economist with the Rockefeller Foundation and for 23 years as Professor of Economics at Harvard University, where he established and directed the Environment and Sustainable Development Programme at the Centre for International Development.
In 2007, he was recognized for his contribution to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the United Nations which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In 2010, he served as advisor to the High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing of the UN Secretary General.
During his career, he has served as advisor on environmental economics and management to many governments: in Brazil, Chile, China, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Thailand, Russia and the United States, as well as countries in Eastern Europe, Central America and the Mediterranean. In Cyprus, he has served as member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors (2003-2008). He has consulted many international organisations, including the World Bank, UNDP, UNEP, UNCTAD and FAO.
Furthermore he has held various honorary positions on Advisory Committees and Boards, including the National Committee for the Establishment of the National Institutes for the Environment, by the US Congress, Washington, DC; the Board of Directors, Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS) at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; and the Council of China for International Co-operation on Environment and Development, to name but a few.
He has a BA in Law / Economics from the University of Athens, an MA in Development Economics from York University (Canada) and a PhD in Environmental and Resource Economics from the University of British Columbia (Canada).
The programme has been approved by the HRDA (ΑνΑΔ). Organisations registered in Cyprus, who satisfy the HRDA criteria, are entitled to apply for the subsidy and thus participate without any cost, as described below:

Business entities can apply for the full subsidy for up to three participants, who meet the participant profile. Participation includes educational materials, lunch, coffee-breaks and refreshments.
